Salford Royal Choir
The 1970s and 80s
A piece of history.
This is how we looked in the 1970s and 80s, when we rehearsed at the old Salford Royal Hospital on Chapel Street.
Ten of the 1970s members are still singing in the present Choir, nearly 40 years on, but we were very young then! By the end of the 1980s, 6 original singers are still in the Choir.
Philip Thornley has conducted throughout.
1970s - Mr. Griffiths (far left, above), a surgeon at the old Salford Royal, was our accompanist.
Gary Owen, near left, has been our accompanist since 1988.
